We do a walk-past of the art and sculpture galleries in Munich’s famous Gallery Quarter, with a description of what is to be found in each, and mention any special or rotating exhibits. This will help you choose a gallery to visit. We will also mention other galleries and museums in Munich that are not directly within the Munich Gallery Quarter, including the Residenz royal palace, the Nazi Documentation Center, and the world-famous German Museum of science and technology, the Deutsches Museum.

Lake Starnberg Day Trip
A day out on the beautiful 25km long lake with views of the Alps, for a ferry ride, swimming, a visit to the Rose Island, quaint towns, and ending at a spectacular lakeside beer garden. We take the light rail from Munich to Starnberg (20-30 minutes), ferry to Berg, then walk along the lake for about 30 minutes to Leoni for swimming and lunch. Re-boarding the ferry, we cross the lake disembarking at Possenhofen for a 30-minute walk to the Rose Island nature reserve, for a 1-hour visit. Then we earn our dinner with a 60-minute walk to Tutzing for a traditional self-service beer garden experience right on the lake. Finally, we walk off our dinner with a 30-minute stroll past the most surprising royal residence of them all to the light rail station for the train back to Munich (30-40 minutes).

Float Down the River Isar to Munich
We meet early and travel to the launch point upriver. After inflating our dinghies, we float downstream until we reach the endpoint, where we will be met by our vehicle. There will be riverbank and island stops, plus a rock jump for the brave. We will stop for a delicious lunch at a traditional riverside restaurant. Fresh trout!

Custom Munich and Bavaria Outdoor Adventure Tours
The Munich area in the state of Bavaria is an outdoor paradise. Breathtaking scenery right off the chocolate box cover is easily accessible by an excellent road and rail network. We operate tours in the Alpine region involving hiking and walking, mountain bike rides, lake, and river kayak and dinghy trips, as well as via Ferrata adventure experiences. Munich and Bavaria turn into a winter wonderland when the snow comes, when we get out the skis for some downhill or cross-country action or keep the boots on for a winter hike. We also arrange trips to places of cultural, historic, or scenic interest.

Starnberg Crossing Open Water Swim
We swim the classic Possenhofen to Leoni open water crossing of Lake Starnberg just south of Munich, exactly as in the popular “Starnberg Crossing” competition event. The distance is 2 km, and you have the option to return by ferry or to double down and swim back. A kayak will accompany the swimmers.

The Karwendel Route by Mountainbike
A popular MTB highlight is the Karwendelrunde, with a train to Mittenwald, a ride through the spectacular Karwendel region, then an overnight in the serviced Karwendelhaus. On the second day, we descend the Johanis Valley, bike out through the Riss Valley, ending with a climb and descent back to Mittenwald for train return to Munich.

Via Ferrata (secured cable hike, no climbing skills required)
Unique to the Alps are routes with fixed cables and stanchions set in the rock to aid your ascent, known in Italian as “Via Ferrata” or in German as “Klettersteig”. Most of the way we will hike, but where we encounter passages requiring this extra security, we will clip in our short double ropes to the cable, leaving one always on while we remove and re-fix the other to pass a rock screw holding the cable in.

Celtic Heartland Day with Manching Museum and Oppidum Visit
The Celts inhabited Europe for perhaps 10,000 years, although their language derivatives are now only heard in parts of Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, and Brittany in France. The Hallstatt culture was predominant from 800 BCE until they were displaced by the Romans, with a high concentration right here in Bavaria. We visit a number of archaeological sites where there is evidence of Celtic settlements, then spend a number of hours at the Manching Celtic museum and oppidum. After lunch at the museum café, your druid will return you to Munich, taking in a few more sites on the way.

All levels welcome, expert tours can also be arranged.

FC Bayern Munich Training Session, Add Allianz Arena Visit and Tour
We leave downtown Munich at 9:00 for a 30-minute drive to the FC Bayern Munich headquarters and practice grounds. This allows us enough time to secure a place for practice at 10:00 (first come, first served, no reservations). Your guide will head toward the Fan Zone around 11:00, and to the beer garden onsite at around noon for lunch. You can, of course, follow a different time schedule. If practice starts at 11:00, we will reverse the order. Either way, we will all leave at 13:00 for the return trip to Munich. Please note that entrance into the FCB training complex itself is free, so the tour price is just for us to take care of all the planning and logistics and to drive you there and back so that you can relax and enjoy the day.
